Jelsa The picturesque village of Jelsa
lies between the Hotel Mina and the Fontana
Resort within a short walking distance from each property. The
town was known in the 18th and 19th century for its ship
building industry.
While walking through narrow alleys
you reach the churches of St. Ivan, St. Fabian and St.
Sebastian. Around the lively main plaza you can relax in one
of the many cafés and Dalmatian restaurants or enjoy the
nightlife in one of the many typical bars.
Island of Hvar The Island of Hvar is
the fourth largest Adriatic Island. 68 km long and maximum
10,5 km wide this island counts 11200 inhabitants. With
average of approximately 2750 sun shine hours per year this
island is among the most sun tenacious travel destinations in
the Adriatic. The main activity is agriculture which can be
seen by the large lavender and rosemary fields and the
extensive olive, lemon and orange plantations.
Town of Hvar Hvar is said to become
the next St. Tropez of the Adriatic Sea. Visit the old,
car-free town of Hvar which lies underneath the Spanjola
fortress. The cathedral at the main square reminds you that
Hvar was and is today again the bishops´ residence. The Hotel
Palaces´ loggia, which is used today as an event facility, is
one of the most beautiful of its kind. Walk around the harbour
bordered by palm trees and watch the yachts of the rich and
beautiful of this world. For entertainment you will find cosy
bars and fancy restaurants along the main square and the
harbour.
Humac Visit the old stone house
village of Humac. From the viewpoint you can overlook the
island of Hvar, see the island of Brač and also the main land.
In the typical al fresco restaurant the local tenant is
preparing sea food and meat under a terra cotta cloche on an
open fire place and serves you local wines and spirits with
it.
Island of Brač Opposite of the island
of Hvar lies the island of Brač which is the third largest
Adriatic island with 395km2 and is home to 15000 inhabitants.
Visit Bol and its Dominican monastery. Later take some relax
hours and swim at the “Zlatni Rat”, the Golden Horn, which is
a 600 meter long sandy peninsula ideal for water sports and
fun bathing. Given to the sea stream the peninsula growths
each year 30 cm and moves about 20 degrees.
